Sarah's bio-brother is Tony Christian. Tony Christian is tenyears old. Tony functions developmentally at a preschool level. Tony has a form of muscular dystrophy, Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy. He was not diagnosed until he was four years old. He has been with us since he was five years old, and came to live with us when his family could no longer care for his needs. His biological mother also has Myotonic Dystrophy. Tony wanted to come and be a part of our family as we had already adopted his younger sister Sarah. Tony has a very creative mind. He loves the Lord. Tony has become a helper and a doer verses a couch potato. He enjoys being a part of a team and helping his brothers and sisters. Tony is in dance classes through our church also. We have adopted Tony.
Tony is now 20. Though Tony has the same Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy as Sarah, in comparison he is not as fragile as Sarah. Though Tony has bonded to all of us he and Sarah share a special bond that only biological siblings can have. Because Tony is stronger, he spends a week in the Summer with his Grandparents, who have stayed in contact with him.
Tony has a little trouble walking, but still manages to go bowling with the rest of us twice a week, as well as camping and other activities. He loves the horse stables a few blocks from us, and participates in the Church Dance group.
